Shining 3D releases handheld 3D scanners, EinScan Pro 2X and 2X Plus

Hangzhou-headquartered 3D scanner and printer manufacturerShining 3Dhas released two handheld 3D scanners, the EinScan Pro 2X and EinScan 2X Plus.

Oscar Meza, Vice President of Global Sales at SHINING 3D, said, “Based on the feedback received from thousands of users and the valuable input of SHINING 3D’s own R&D team, the EinScan Pro 2X & 2X Plus deliver substantial improvements on scan speed, accuracy and function.”

“Making a dramatic breakthrough in scanning speed and data quality, the EinScan Pro 2X series is aimed to improve the efficiency in generating high-quality 3D models.“

Saving history and healing with EinScan

The EinScan 3D scanners have been used for the restoration of heritage. Two years ago, high school students in Hangzhou used theEinScan 3D scanner to restore the statue of Tao Xingzhi, a Chinese educator and activist.

Shining 3D’s scanners have also proved valuable in medical research. At the Drum Tower Hospital in Nanjing, researchers used theEinScan-Pro 3D scanner to design a customized heel cup to treat plantar heel pain, a chronic pain disorder of the heel.

Furthermore, since 2016,Shining 3D has also officially supported MyMiniFactory’s Scan the World projectwhich has 3D scanned over 5000 art works and sculptures around the world.

The EinScan Pro 2x and 2X Plus

The latest releases add to the line of EinScan 3D scanners by Shining 3D.

The EinScan Pro 2X and 2X Plus are compact and handheld portable 3D scanners weighing between 1-2 kgs. They can collect up to 1,500,000 data points to provide precise details of the scanned image.

Both models have four scanning modes: Handheld Rapid Scan, Handheld HD (High Definition) Scan, Automatic Fix Scan-Turntable, and a Fix Scan-Free mode. Each mode is suited to different kind of tasks, and the accuracy of the 3D scan depends on the object to be scanned and the choice of the scanning mode.

For example, it is best practice to use the Automatic Fix Scan-Turntable mode if the object is less than 20 cm. This mode provides a scanning accuracy of up to 0.05 mm in a single pass. And手持高清扫描ideal for scanning larger fixed objects, such as sculptures. With a scanning speed of 15 frames per second, this mode can provide 3D models with accuracy up to 0.2 mm.

The EinScan Pro 2X is best used for scanning small to medium-sized objects ranging whereas the Pro 2X Plus is ideal for medium to large-sized objects.

Furthermore, Shining 3D has also integrated a design software, Solid Edge Shining 3D Edition, with the EinScan Pro 2X models. The Solid Edge Shining 3D Edition is developed with the help ofSiemens PLM Software, a German 3D software company. It includes tool such as reverse engineering for deconstructing designs, and synchronous modeling, which lets the user add components to an existing design with ease.

Meza explained, “The integration of Solid Edge SHINING 3D Edition, EinScan 3D scanners and 3D printer enables users a complete solution covering 3D digitize – design & simulate –additive manufacturing, it will significantly improve the efficiency and quality for designers, engineers and researchers.”

Color 3D scanning

Last year,3D Printing Industry visited Shining 3D’s European headquarters in Stuttgart, where the company introduced theEinScan-SE (Scan Elite) and EinScan SP models.

Based on these models the company also brought to market theEinScan Discovery for color 3D scanning.
