Todd Grimm and Dominik Rietzel selected as key note speakers for AMUG 2018

Todd Grimm and Dr. Ing. Dominik Rietzel have been announced as featured key note speakers at the 2018Additive Manufacturing Users Group(AMUG) Education & Training Conference.

AMUG is a highlight on the increasingly crowded 3D printing events calendar, bringing together AM experts from across the industry.

Grimm, who is president of T. A. Grimm & Associates and additive manufacturing industry advisor at AMUG, will set the tone of the conference on April 9th in an introductory presentation about the shift in attitudes and expectations around AM.

Speaking on April 12th Rietzel, head of BMW Group’s Additive Manufacturing Center (Non-Metal), will close the conference with a presentation titledAdditive Manufacturing on the Road. A Journey from Prototyping to Production.

Paul Bates, president of AMUG, commented, “We have a very strong presentation lineup, and perhaps the greatest topic-specific agenda of any prior conference,”

Additive insights

Grimm returns as keynote for the eighth time this year following commendation for the “energy, passion and knowledge” he brings to the week-long program over 200 presentations, workshops and hands-on training sessions.

Rietzel, on the other hand, will be speaking of his experiences technology scouting for BMW with the aim of usingAM for serial production, and his role overseeing all non-metal 3D printing for prototyping andend-useas part of digital strategy.

Bates adds, “Our attendees have a huge appetite for information on applications and how, as well as why, to make the transition from conventional processes to additive manufacturing,”

“Hearing a first-hand account from within a company like BMW will provide much-wanted insights that offer guidance for implementation, justification and adoption.”

The 2018 AMUG Conference will also be hosting a featured Innovators Showcase and the Global AM Review. This year’s guest of honor who will be interviewed on-stageFried Vancraen, founder and CEO of Materialise.

The Global AM Review event will be hosted by Stefan Ritt, VP of Global Marketing and Communications at SLM Solutions, and Graham Tromans of G. P. Tromans Associates will expose attendees to the AM activities around the world in the Global AM Review.
