Latest 3D printing industry hires: PrinterPrezz, IFAM, NCDMM

PrinterPrezz, a manufacturer of 3D printed medical devices, company, has named Greg Morris to the company’s advisory board.

Morris, along with two partners, established Morris Technologies in 1994 as a provider of AM services. The company, which waspurchased by GEAviation in 2012 and later formed into GE Additive, introduced the first additive metal sintering 3D printer to North America.

Dr. Thomas Weißgärber, a long-time employee of of the German research instituteFraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM)has taken over the management of its Dresden branch.

During his career at the company, Dr. Weißgärber has conducted research in various fields of powder metallurgy, contributing significantly to the development of the institute as a leading application-oriented institute in the metallurgy sector. For his achievements Dr. Weißgärber was awarded theSkaupy Prizein 2018 – the highest honor in the German-speaking area in the field of powder metallurgy.

Elsewhere, theNational Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining, has named Dean L. Bartle as President and CEO. Bartle said, “I am beyond honored to lead the NCDMM team and this tremendous organization. Within the defense manufacturing industry, the NCDMM is a highly respected organization, one known for the innovative work and the results that it has achieved to support the defense supply chain.

Expansions and office openings: Aleph Objects, GKN Powder Metallurgy and AM Ventures

Aleph Objects, the OEM of Lulzbot 3D printers based in Colorado, has begun its expansion into Europe by opening a new headquarters in Rotterdam. To sustain this expansion it has also created a new holding company, Aleph Objects Europe Holding B.V. The move comes as the company prepares to launch itsnew, line of 3D printers in Europe.

“European revenue growth in 2019 alone is expected to reach triple digits, with a projected overall representation of more than 30% of our future business,” said Grant Flaharty, Aleph Objects President and CEO.

GKN Powder Metallurgy, a British manufacturer of metal powders is opening a new additive manufacturing customer center and a North American Powder Metallurgy headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

Spanning 38,260 square feet, the new facility expands the company’s global 3D printing network and extends its scope of in-house powder metallurgy capabilities. The building includes a 3,200 square foot AM Customer Center, equipped with two EOS M290 Direct Metal Laser Sinter (DMLS) printers.

AM Ventures Holding GmbH (AMV), an investor in 3D printing technology, is expanding its global reach with the opening of a new office in Korea to support investment activities in the Asia Pacific region. The German investor has expanded its network of operation over the last few years, focusing on industrial 3D printing for serial production. Recent investments included software company3YOURMIND, OEMsSintratecandDyeMansion, material companyElementum 3Dand startupConflux Technology.
